Why did you start teaching?
I started teaching because I love learning, and teaching is the best way to learn even more.
What advice would you give to those considering this online degree program?
Be involved in the course and interact with your classmates. We all have much to learn, and it can be enjoyable even if it is work.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
"I Wasn't Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse." This book reminds us of why we became nurses.
What qualities make someone particularly successful in the nursing profession?
We have touched on the focus of continually improving ourselves as nurses and what makes a good leader is always a part of the conversation. Nurses are leaders in health care by being with patients 24/7.
What do you think is the biggest challenge that nurses face today?
The constant change in health care for all facilities is a challenge. The students know this and, as a class, we make efforts to embrace the change and be part of the solution. Most students are truly leaders.
Tell us something that your students might find interesting, something they may not know about you.
