"I think this type of learning method is unique, and if you have a good understanding of computers and online fetching skills, such as Google, then you should be all set!"

Degrees Held:

  • M.S. in Information Assurance – Eastern Michigan University, 2018
  • B.S. in Computer and Information Systems – Siena Heights University, 2013
  • A.A.S. in Networking – Jackson College, 2012

Career Highlights:

I'm currently working at Fiat Chrysler and teaching at Eastern Michigan University. I also was part of a company that migrated an entire data center to the Amazon Web Services cloud, and I helped secure and architect the security of the cloud as a whole. It was a great experience for my career.

Which online degree program(s) do you teach?

  • Links to share?

I have made many YouTube videos in the past and have a pretty active social media presence. I'm also trying to get a cloud computing business of my own on the side! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTf2HDCnugFWKF0RetRunQg

  • What do students learn in your classes? What is the expected outcome?

[They learn about] Amazon Web Services and how to manage their own basic cloud environment while using Linux and Windows traditional systems.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online degree program?

I think this type of learning method is unique, and if you have a good understanding of computers and online fetching skills, such as Google, then you should be all set! It's always a good idea to email and contact the instructor as, in most cases, the students will not reach out; I think that is the biggest problem in this method.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

I would recommend studying for a Cisco® Certification and reading the CCENT book related to the material which helped me in my career.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in cyber security?

The willingness to fail, and I think that is important because it's impossible to learn everything. If you can find one part of the field that you enjoy and you can excel at, such as cloud computing and management of systems, then you can make that into a career.

  • Tell us something that your students might find interesting, something they might not know about you.

I was a huge soccer player when I was younger, and I think it's important to be healthy. I have won various running events and have kept my health above almost all else; I think that has given me a leg up on most anyone. My young age shows my success in my career, and I would recommend everyone to keep healthy!
