  • What advice would you give to those considering this online degree program?

Our courses offer a wide range of important topics in information and cyber security, so make sure you give each its due time for review, preparation, research and application.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in cyber security?

Good time management and interest in deep technical topics.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

Technology continues to change at a fast pace sometimes rendering obsolete some recently covered topics. However, we continuously update our content to make sure it is up to speed with the latest.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I have always had a passion for exploration, research and sharing discovered knowledge. I have had a chance to achieve all of that in my current position as a professor at EMU.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

"Defensive Security Handbook: Best Practices for Securing Infrastructure" by Brotherston and Berlin

  • Tell us something that your students might find interesting, something they may not know about you.

I gave a TEDx Talk in 2013 in which I proposed a vision to close the technical skill gap we currently have. I'm also the organizer of two tech meetups: Ann Arbor Raspberry Pi, and Embedded Systems & Vehicle Cyber Security.
