    • CURR 650: Improving Instruction Through Inquiry
    • CURR 656: Curriculum Design, Implementation, and Evaluation
    • CURR 670: Curriculum & Teaching Strategies for 21st Century
  • What do students learn in your classes? What is the expected outcome?

The courses I teach in the program focus students on 21st-century education, particularly issues in curriculum, instruction and learning. Some key components addressed are theories like constructivism; creating relevant, meaningful experiences using PBLs; and using research strategies to inform practice.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I wanted to inspire students to learn math. I wanted to show them the relevance of math. Later on, I wanted to work with pre-service and in-service teachers to help them learn how to inspire students they teach.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online degree program?

Online programs are convenient, but you need to know yourself as a learner. You need to make sure you manage your time.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the profession in which you teach?

Successful teachers have to love what they teach and who they teach. They are also learners themselves, realizing that to be successful, they have to stay current.

  • Tell us something that your students might find interesting, something they might not know about you.

I love photography. I enjoy going to national parks and photographing landscapes and wildlife.
